FOOT PROBLEMS!

It’s always good to be informed! Do you know what are the most common foot problems your children can have? Here are the main ones:

– Club foot – one or both feet rotated internally at the ankle
– Foot varus – deformity at the knee which results in bowlegged appearance
– Foot valgus – deformity at the knee which results in knock knee appearance
– Flat feet – postural deformity in which the arches of the foot collapses, with the entire sole of the foot coming into complete or near-complete contact with the ground

Keep an eye on it!!!

ADVICE FOR THE HEALTH OF THE FOOT!

Moms and Dads did you know that the child’s welfare starts from his feet? Today we present a useful tip that focuses on “PLAYING WITH THE CHILD’S FOOT”! The skin is a sensory organ receptor highly developed and in constant connection with the brain via nerve pathways called exteroceptive (i.e. for the transmission of external stimuli). Touching the baby’s foot means to communicate with your baby and all his body. Massage in general, to the foot in particular should not have a therapeutic effect, but should serve to improve the relationship between parent and child. In the first few months of life it helps to promote the basic reflexes. For older children you need exercises with more complex movements to improve their awareness of their feet. Grab your child’s calves, bend the legs up to support them on your belly, rub their feet against each other and touch the mouth or the tip of the nose with them. The same exercise can be done by bending the legs in extension, bringing the soles of the feet against each other and massaging with the thumb the inside of the foot; then, alternately, with the rest of the hand, the outer side. There would be many other exercises, better defined as games, to be recommended. However, just touch the feet of your baby and let your imagination run free. Always concentrate on this very important part of the body, so your child will learn to love his feet.

CHECK-UPS AFTER 3 YEARS OLD!

After 3 years of age, what shall we do to ensure the healthy growth of our childrens’ feet? Experts recommend to consult a podiatrist who will give precise information about the proper development of the feet and of the musculoskeletal system and find the right treatment in the event of defects and abnormalities, recommending specific exercises aimed at the resolution of a specific disorder.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE EXACT SHOE

When selecting shoes, always keep in mind the growth of your child!!! Did you know that the process of growth in height is not gradual, continuous and uniform? There are times in life when it is accelerated and sudden and others where it is slowed down!

In terms of choosing the right shoes, it is important that these are of the right size and that the socks are not excessively tight squeezing the toes of the foot. An effective method to measure the size of the child’s foot, since the child is not able to understand the correctness, is to put a card under the feet, trace the outline with a pen, cut it out and insert the imprint inside the shoe. This test must be repeated often enough because childrens’ feet can grow suddenly even two or three sizes.
